Born in Ravenna, Italy, in 1996, Matilde Stolfa is an interdisciplinary designer, architect and photographer based between The Netherlands and Italy.
Her practice explores the dynamics between the built environment, dwelling, socioeconomic and anthropogenic factors in
an age of extreme climate change. Her work uses spatial installations, site pecific interventions, film and performance as main communication tools. By developing immersive and often multi sensorial experiences, Matilde creates intuitive and approachable narratives through the use of storytelling based methodologies. In the last four years Matilde focused her research on the cultural and ecological agency of wetlands, intertidal and coastal areas in an era of fast paced environmental changes.
Matilde is currently part of ECOP Dutch Node: Early Career Ocean Professional, working towards bridging ocean literacy, design and art.
She has been working as an indipendent photographer since 2015, working for different clients across fashion and documentary.
Since 2019 she’s been involved in creating educational programs and workshops related to landscape and climate change for students in secondary school (aged 10 to 13) and appeared as a guest lecturer for MA students at Design Academy Eindhoven.
She exhibited in several institutions such as ADI Museo del Design Milano, HKDI Hong Kong Design Institue, TAC Eindhoven, Parada Art Bienno and took part into many editions of Dutch Design Week.
